To Brew or Not to Brew

Brewing Trouble Mystery Series, #1

Rocco loved this book so much two reviews have been done.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

In this first in the “Brewing for Trouble” mysteries, we meet Maxine “Max” O’Hara, a girl who’s gotten her brewmaster certification from Germany and is finally realizing her dream of opening a brewery in her hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. However, it seems as though someone’s against the brewery opening. A series of suspicious acts of sabotage culminate in Max’s finding her assistant strangled in the brew vat. Now inbetween rescuing a stray gray tabby and fighting her attraction to a former hockey player turned chef, Max has to find out who’s behind it all, before her new brewery tanks!

I definitely enjoyed this book! Tremel’s debut novel is well developed, and the characters practically fly off the pages! Even though I did guess early on who was behind it all, I still enjoyed watching Max piece the clues together, along with her quirky band of friends, which include a Steelers loving baker and a ninety year old curmudgeon who serves as her “bodyguard”. I also loved the budding romance between her and her new chef Jake, the ex-hockey player who’s a friend of her brother’s. Two thumbs (Paws) up and four and a half stars! Can’t wait for the next one! - ROCCO LOTEMPIO

The Allegheny Brew House is a dream come true for Maxine “Max” O’Hara, who went all the way to Germany for her brewmaster certification, and is now preparing to open her own craft brew pub in a newly revitalized section of Pittsburgh. But before she can start pouring stouts and lagers to thirsty throngs, there’s trouble on tap. Suspicious acts of sabotage culminate in Max finding her assistant brewmaster and chef Kurt Schmidt strangled in one of the vats.

I’ve long wanted to see a cozy set in a bar and I finally got my wish! This is a promising start to what looks like it will be a very entertaining series! It’s a different location, that’s for sure, and I’m glad to see the cozy world branching out from the usual knitting/craft/typical venue mold. I’m definitely a fan, and I’m sure everyone will enjoy the recipes included as an extra bonus! Four Stars! – ROCCO LOTEMPIO
