Kate Collins irrepressible heroine, Abby Knight, is back in her latest offering, THROW IN THE TROWEL. Abby’s added Salvare to her name, having just returned from a romantic honeymoon with the man of her dreams. Things start off pretty normal – the couple needs to get a new mattress, for one thing – but when hubby Marco discovers a skeleton buried in the basement of his bar, things change…drastically. After the body’s identified as that of a carpenter who went missing back in the 70’s, Abby and Marco work the clues to solve the cold case, in between dealing with Abby’s neurotic sister and Marco’s interfering but well-meaning mother.
Where most series can run out of steam around Book 10, Kate Collins manages to keep each of Abby’s adventures fresh and exciting, even at #15. The mystery is well plotted, the characters well fleshed out, and Abby and Marco fans will not be disappointed! Now we can’t wait for #16! 4 ½ stars – ROCCO LOTEMPIO
I’m used to buried bulbs, not buried bodies?
The couple that sleuths together?
Flower Shop owner Abby Knight has just returned from a romantic honeymoon with the man of her dreams. There’s no reason for the bloom to be off the rose just because she and Marco are returning to normal life. But when Marco discovers a skeleton buried in the basement of his bar, it is a bit of a mood killer.
When the body is identified as a carpenter who went missing back in the 1970s, Abby and Marco decide to cultivate the clues to solve the cold case. What could be more romantic? But the deeper they dig, the more desperate the murderer grows. And if Marco and Abby don’t unearth the killer’s identity, they may not live to see their first anniversary.
