The Ghost and Mrs. Mewer

A Paws and Claws Mystery, #2

Holly Miller and the good folks of Wagtail return in the sequel to last year’s adventure, MURDER SHE BARKED. Holly’s given up her job and fiancée and decided to help her aunt run her hotel in the town of Wagtail, Virginia. Halloween is fast approaching and a tv series, Apparition Apprehenders, has set up shop to investigate supernatural local legends. Holly poo-poohs the supernatural, until her Jack Russell, Trixie, and kitten Twinkletoes stumble across the body of a young woman drowned in the hotel bathhouse – the site of an infamous haunting. What’s more, the crime scene is eerily familiar to the legend. Holly’s convinced the crime wasn't accidental- but can she prove it?

Krista Davis once again proves her talent for characterization. The residents of Wagtail are delightfully quirky and the animals are a joy! I’m also a fan of her “Diva” series, but I admit to being partial to this one. It’s hard to resist a series where animals are so charmingly portrayed. Davis also has a flair for setting up a good mystery. Mystery and animal buffs alike will LOVE this! Four and a half paws! - ROCCO LoTempio
