Prose and Cons

A Magical Bookshop Mystery, #2

Amanda Flower brings us the second entry in her Magical Bookshop series. This time we find Violet and her Grandma Daisy getting ready for the annual Food and Wine Festival. they plan on having the local writing group, the Red Inkers, present a reading of the works of Edgar Allan Poe in the shop’s back garden to entertain the revelers. Everyone eagerly agrees, and the event proceeds with much gusto, until Violet discovers one of the writers dead during the event. After the shop magically tells Violet she’ll need to rely on Poe’s works to solve the murder, she enlists the help of her trusty tuxedo cat, Emerson, and the shop’s crow, Faulkner.

I've always been drawn to the supernatural and this mystery series has just enough of it incorporated into the story to make it appear believable without taking away from the mystery. I liked the plot and the characters and am looking forward to the third instalment. Four paws! - ROCCO Lotempio
