One Foot in the Grape

A Cypress Cove Mystery, #1

After losing her photojournalist job,Penny Lively has a fallback plan- she’s inherited the family winery from her late aunt. First week there she finds out that Antonia Martinelli, who owns the winery next door, has a problem: someone’s spoiling her wine. She asks Penny for help. The mystery deepens when the body of a staff member is found in a grape crusher, and Penny’s niece Hayley becomes the prime suspect.

A great start to what promises to be an intriguing series. I have a fondness for reporters (or ex-reporters, or phototographers) that probably comes out of reading the Beverly Gray mysteries when I was a teen. O’Neill weaves an interesting plot with equally interesting characters. A definite don’t miss and a top pick in this reviewer’s opinion – four and a half paws – ROCCO LOTEMPIO
