HOW TO PAINT A CAT is Rebecca M. Hale’s latest entry in her popular Cats and Curios Mystery series. This time out the nameless neice, aided by her two cats, Rupert and Isabella, are following Uncle Oscar’s clues trying to track down his hidden location. The clues lead them on a merry chase from Coit Tower’ famous murals through the New Deal art of San Francisco – and just when it seems they’ve hit a brick wall, they get some surprising help from beyond! But the niece has a far greater concern – is her uncle’s disappearance related to the recently murdered City Hall intern?
I’ve always thought that lawyers make especially good writers, and Ms Hale does nothing to disprove my theory. The female ‘Grisham of the cozies’ weaves an intricate mystery that will delight the most critical of fans, and cat lovers will not be disappointed in the roles played by Rupert and Isabella.
