Waking the Dead

The Mindhunters Series, Book 3

Caitlin Fleming, a former teen model, is now a forensic anthropologist for the Mindhunters.  She is sent to the Willamette Forest, Oregon when a bunch of human bones are found in a cave.  Zach Sharper found the bones.  Zach, ex-army ranger, now runs an outdoor tour company.  He went to Castle Rock to check out some out of the way caves for a client.  Once inside the cave Zach finds seven trash bags.  When he opens the bags he finds that they are full of human bones.  When the bones are put together, there are seven bodies but they are all missing their skulls.  Zach gets the job of escorting Caitlin to where the bones were found.  He thinks Caitlin doesn't know what she is doing and Zach is not the most social person around.  It seems that they can't be around each other without arguing.  But under it all they both find themselves drawn to each other.  The more clues that are uncovered, the closer they get to the identity of the killer. The time they spend together just draws them closer to each other.  When the killer sets his sights on Caitlin it is up to Zach to find and save her.

This is the third in the Mindhunters series.  Ms. Brant writes such a successful tale of romance and mystery.  As each bit of evidence is discovered, it just draws you deeper and deeper into the story.  She does not give up the villain until the end and when you think you have an idea of who it is, she will drop a bombshell to surprise you.  This story will keep you on the edge of your seat and you will not want to put it down until you find out who the killer is and the couple have a happy ending.  I just can't get enough of Ms. Brant's Mindhunters.

Former forensic anthropologist Caitlin Fleming knows bones. So the investigator is the first one called when seven sets of skeletal remains are found dumped in a makeshift graveyard in the Oregon wilderness. Each skeleton bears the same distinctive marks. And each is minus a skull.

Cait needs outdoors guide Zach Sharper for one reason only—to help her find her way through the Willamette Forest as she pieces together clues. Despite the attraction that burns between them, nothing will be allowed to shake her focus. Until the killer closes in to terminate the investigation…and the ones on the verge of unmasking him…
