Nyx is a half human half Drow (dark elf) princess. She lives in New York. By day she passes as human and works as a PI with her partner Olivia. Olivia knows who Nyx is and about the Otherworld. By night Nyx is a leader of a team of Trackers. They protect humans from the paranormal races who would harm them. After the last battle with the Zombies, Nyx and her team need a break. But it does not look like they are going to get it. It seems like Trackers are going missing. No one knows what is happening to them. Then the two most powerful proctors turn up missing, one of them is Nyx's boss and former lover. Master vampire Volod is back in town and wants revenge on Nyx for killing his brother. Volod has managed to get ahold of a list the includes the weakness of every paranormal race on it. He plans to use this list to capture and turn them into his own personal army. Volod wants vampires to be on the top of the food chain and in charge of all humans and paranormals. It is up to Nyx and the remaining tracker to defeat Volod. Nyx will need the help of her father's people to defeat the vampire.
This is the fifth installment of Ms. McCray's Night Trackers novels. I have enjoyed this series since the first book. The growth of the main character has been great. The action and drama in the stories will keep you turning pages until you are done with the books. I can't wait for the next title to come out.
In the acclaimed Night Tracker series by New York Times bestselling author Cheyenne McCray, the vampires are back to make a brand new start of it-in old New York.
With zero tolerance for bloodsuckers, Nyx and the Trackers have made the streets safer for warm-blooded New Yorkers. Unfortunately, they didn't drive a stake through the problem nationwide. Vampire attacks are on the rise. Proctors are dropping like flies. And Volod-New York's ousted Master Vampire-is trying to make a comeback.
Nyx is worried-about her city, her job, and her neck. But mostly she's concerned about her former lover, Rod n, a Proctor who's gone missing. Scarier still, Volod is capturing and "turning" paranorms to help him paint the town red. Which sucks. Because some of these new vampires are Nyx's old friends. But hey-if she can stake them here, she'll stake them anywhere.
