Personal Demon

This is the sixth installment of Ms. Sizemore's Laws of the Blood series. This is the first book I have read in this series. I was a little lost but still enjoyed the overall story and concepts. Reading this has made me want to read the first five!

Ivy Bailey is a vampire hunter, well really more of a vampire watcher. If she sees a vampire who is stalking a human with the intent of turning them against their will, she then reports it to the hunters who will investigate the problem. Her life is pretty calm, which is the way she enjoys it. But Ivy has a secret that only her close family knows about. She is part demon. Her grandfather is full demon and Ivy has demon blood, which will make a vampire very ill if they try and drink her blood. Women from different paranormal houses are being brutally murdered by magical means. There are no witness or trace evidence left at the crime scenes. The biggest mystery is that each woman gave birth right before she was killed, even though they were not pregnant to start with. Each baby was taken by the murder.

Christopher Bell is not just a vampire Enforcer but also a Nighthawk. A Nighthawk is a vampire who is able to kill other vampires. He is sent out to take care of vampire problems. He is the vampire bogeyman. Christopher is sent to Chicago to investigate the new way that the vampires are interacting with not only the other paranormals but with humans as well. The first night that Christopher is in town he runs into Ivy following another vampire. Unknown to Ivy, someone is following her. Christopher finds himself trying to protect Ivy, but she keeps telling him that she does not need his protection but can take care of herself. Christopher is drawn to Ivy. He has never been tempted to keep a human or even change one until Ivy came into his life. What is in store for their future?
