This is the first installment of Ms. Chase's new Flirting series. This was a wonderful start to a very lighthearted series. There was a bit of action in the story but it heavily weighted more on the romance side. I can't wait for the next installment in this series to come out! I know other readers will enjoy getting swept away as much as I did.
Brandee Hanson’s dream is to be a photographer but for now she is working as a waitress in a bar. But unknown to Brandee and the rest of the human staff, this is a special bar. It is ran by a vampire and is a safe place for other paranormals. The owners "aunt" has a table at the bar where she reads tarot cards. When she has Brandee pick a card she draws "the lovers" card. Sadie tells her that the next man to walk through the door is destined to be hers. And then the door opens and in walks One-Night Nick.
Nicholes Wolfersen is an ex-cop who is now a private investigator. He is at the bar to meet with his ex-boss about a job. It seems that someone has kidnapped the mayor’s stepdaughter. The stepdaughter is a fire mage who is about to come into her powers. When Brandee overhears him talking about the kidnapped girl she figures out it is her cousin. Nick will not allow her to help in the search. When he leaves the bar Brandee follows him. She sees Nick shift into a wolf. Now Nick has to convince Brandee not to tell what she has seen and to keep her knowledge of the supernatural world a secret. Spending time with Brandee is no hardship on Nick because he knows that Brandee is his mate. He will use this time to woo her.
If Brandee Hanson ever wants to go from waitress to photographer, she'll have to take some once-in-a-lifetime shots. But when she catches the gorgeous private investigator Nick Wolfensen on camera—transforming into a werewolf—she is thrown into a world of vampires, shapeshifters, and other paranormal misfits.
In order to keep his secret and stay clear of the supernatural council, Nick will have to convince Brandee not to release the photo. Fortunately, he was looking for an excuse to spend more time with the beautiful waitress anyway.
