Captain Richard had willingly take his brother commission and gone to fight for his country. Things had changed on the home front while he was gone. His brother had married Lucy Tierney, whom everyone had planned on him marrying. They were about to welcome their third child. He felt like he was imposing in his own home. That is until Lucy’s younger sister, whom he’d always thought of as a younger sister came home. Then he had a different problem altogether. Diana had grown into a beautiful woman and he was having a hard time resisting her.
Diana had been holding a grudge against his mother for asking him to take his brother’s place in the war. Coming to find out it wasn’t her, but her sister who asked him to go in his place made her feel even worse. And having a simpering Miss staying with them so she could hook Richard was troubling. It wasn’t that she didn’t want him to be happy, she really did. She just wanted him to marry someone who would love and honor him the way she did.
I really like that so much was packed into this story. It was a quick read that was as fulfilling as any novel. I found the heroine sweet, yet strong a good combination. I would recommend this anthology to anyone who likes their romance sweet and tender.
