What a fantastic read. I love Elizabeth Jennings books . Claire Day was supposed to be safe in her job at the embassy as an intelligence officer when all hell breaks loose on a quiet Thanksgiving Day. Dan Watson is the marine who volunteered to work the holiday guarding the embassy so that the men in his unit could enjoy a day off. He doesn’t expect to run into the woman that he has a hidden crush on.
Jennings does a fantastic job with the tough Alpha male and a competent yet feminine woman. This was a true page-turner as Dan helps Claire discover what happened that fateful day after the attack on the embassy that caused her a loss of memory and PTSD when she awakened in the hospital. While this was riveting, long time fans of Lisa Marie Rice aka Elizabeth Jennings may notice strong similarities to her Midnight Series. Most especially the first novel in that trilogy. New fans will however love this.
My only gripe is that I wish this had been written as an LMR book with one of the Midnight characters from the security firm. There were a host of alpha characters she left us waiting for.
U.S. intelligence agent Claire Day and former Marine Sergeant Dan Watson must solve a deadly conspiracy-or forfeit any chance of having a future together.
