Eternal Rider

Lords of Deliverance, #1

WOW! Wow and Wow again! I love the Demonica series, but I'll be the first to admit I was leery of a new series from Larissa Ione. Putting my faith in this author based on her previous great work, I opened the first page and opened my mind. Eternal Rider is awesome. Ione gives us a great cast of characters with the four horsemen. The back drop story is well detailed and readers have a good idea of what’s going on without being drowned in an information dump. The four horsemen are represented by three brothers and their one sister. It is told that they will be harbingers of doom or the end of the world as we know it. The first sign is when one of the horsemen succumbs to the curse that is foretold. Ares is next in line to fall and must make sure that Cara who is now carrying inside her the means to his downfall, survives at all cost.

Cara Thornton is feisty and lively. She doesn’t know what to think when she sees Ares in a battle with his brother and then is struck in the chest. There’s a mark on her chest that’s supposed to be a sign and now a muscled stranger is dragging her around while claiming to be one of the original four horsemen. I don't want to go in to too much detail but Cara's amazing ability to heal leads her to bond with a hellhound puppy which originally seems like a bad idea since this ties their life force together but ends up being a good thing because hellhounds are notoriously protective of their bonded.

Ares character is the kind of hero that will make you sigh. Ione seamlessly integrates characters from the Demonica series and we get to see some prime action and great lines from Wraith and others. This is not to be missed in anyway. It’s a great start to what looks like the most awesome series ever.

Book Blurb for Eternal Rider

They are here. They ride. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

His name is Ares, and the fate of mankind rests on his powerful shoulders. If he falls to the forces of evil, the world falls too. As one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, he is far stronger than any mortal, but even he cannot fight his destiny forever. Not when his own brother plots against him.

Yet there is one last hope. Gifted in a way other humans can't-or won't-understand, Cara Thornhart is the key to both this Horseman's safety and his doom. But involving Cara will prove treacherous, even beyond the maddening, dangerous desire that seizes them the moment they meet. For staving off eternal darkness could have a staggering cost: Cara's life.
