The Guild Hunter series was an instant favorite for me the minute I read Nalini's story of the archangels and vampires. Archangel's Blade is Dmitri's story at last and book 4. Honor is a member of the Guild, a hunter who was badly injured in an attack and kidnapping by a group of vampires playing with human prey. When a suspicious death occurs, Sara, the Director of the Guild thinks it's the perfect opportunity to put Honor back in action. Dmitri is a vampire and right hand to the archangel Raphael. When he meets Honor to discuss the case he immediately senses the terror that radiates from her and it pulls on his long ago feelings for another human from his past.
Dmitri is a thousand years old and has been at Raphael's side from the moment of his change as a vampire. His back story is quite amazing and readers would have to be hard hearted not to sympathize with the vamp that has long since plagued Elena with his game of seduction. I liked Honor, I loved that her character was wounded not just physically but emotionally from her experience and how Singh allows that to slowly grow as she learns to trust Dmitri more and more. Their relationship ends up being a complex one and as the truth is revealed, it will pull on reader's emotions. The story of the rogue vampires was a perfect backdrop for this romance and pushes the arc of the guild series slowly forward. Raphael and Elena make a small appearance but it does not take away from the fact that this is Dmitri's story and he and Honor remain as the central focus throughout.
Trying to discover the identity of a murder victim brings together the vampire Dmitri and a hunter for the Guild, Honor. And as the gruesome murders continue, a lethal sensuality explodes between them.
