Benson thought that going to Maxfield Academy would be a life saver. But this school is much different from any other. First of all, the school seems to have no adults present. Second, the students split into groups to make the living decisions. Cameras are everywhere to keep track of what everyone is doing. If you are found breaking a rule, you are removed, permanently. What will happen when Benson discovers what the school is hiding? Will he accept what is going on and take the special treatment being offered or will he fight to escape?
"Variant" is a one of a kind book. I've never read anything quite like it. I can't imagine being trapped at a school like this. You will never be able to expect each plot twist and the ending is fantastic. Robinson Wells has become one of my new favorite authors and all I can say is WOW!
Benson Fisher thought that a scholarship to Maxfield Academy would be the ticket out of his dead-end life.
He was wrong.
Now he’s trapped in a school that’s surrounded by a razor-wire fence. A school where video cameras monitor his every move. Where there are no adults. Where the kids have split into groups in order to survive.
Where breaking the rules equals death.
But when Benson stumbles upon the school’s real secret, he realizes that playing by the rules could spell a fate worse than death, and that escape—his only real hope for survival—may be impossible.
