Louise's, or Weetzie as she prefers to be called, is changing. After the bullying at school and her parents' constant fighting, she isn't sure of anything anymore. After her father leaves after the biggest fight yet, her mother passes out and falls into the pool. She is saved by a mysterious young man. Who is Winter and how does he know Louise's father. How will her life and herself change after meeting Winter and learning more about why her father left?
I absolutely loved this book. I really enjoyed seeing L.A. through Weetzie's eyes. You will fall in love with Weetzie and all the other characters in "Pink Smog". I can't wait to read more by Francesca Lia Block.
No matter how much Louise Bat tries to change her name, no one will call her Weetzie. It's her dad's nickname for her, but it won't stay put. Unfortunately, neither will her dad. When he leaves, Louise discovers that Los Angeles is a city full of strange angels and she embarks on a journey to sift through the smog of her heartbreak, grow her own wings, and become Weetzie.
Weetzie Bat was originally published twenty years ago, and the character has become an icon. Beautifully crafted but honest, Pink Smog is a prequel to the beloved classic that will reintroduce Weetzie to a new generation who will fall in love all over again with her celestial and sparkling world.
