Devastated and hurt over the loss of her marriage, Jenny Tolliver heads back to Destiny, Ohio to heal her wounds. It’s bad enough that she caught her husband Terrance cheating on her with a 21 year old student teacher, but to compare her to June Cleaver and complain that she was simply “too nice” really sends her self-esteem plummeting.
Yearning to experience the peace and joy she feels while stargazing, she gathers up her telescope and canoes across Blue Valley Lake – the home of the Brodys. The trees block the view at her cottage, but the prominent and elevated rocks at that location provide her with the perfect view. It was considered trespassing 15 years ago, but to her knowledge both parents are deceased, Wayne Brody is in prison and Mick Brody just disappeared. No one really knew where Destiny’s bad boy ended up, but she still remembers how sexy he was.
So as Jenny hiked up the hillside brushing aside the many trees, she’s shocked to run into the boy she had a crush on so long ago, now very much a masculine man. Mick tells her she’s trespassing and to get off his land and Jenny is determined to complete her mission of stargazing. But their steely resolve to get what they want soon turns into something else entirely, as both are unable to hold back from years old yearning of unfulfilled desire, and they become enmeshed in unexpected passion in the woods. Unfortunately, Mick’s reason for coming back could be too much for Jenny to handle.
Emotionally charged, deeply sensual and wonderfully realistic, ONE RECKLESS SUMMER gives romance readers everything they could ever want in a romance. Every word she writes flows beautifully to create the perfect paragraph, forming a flawless plot.
Jenny and Mick enter into a relationship that neither understand nor expect, but is no less riveting and soul stirring as they speak to you and grab your heart. Each carries some emotional baggage designed to mar what could be the perfect relationship, but those insecurities only serve to make them delve deeper as they realize what they offer to each other. Jenny has a giving personality and she’s beautiful, but has her ex-husband ruined her for anyone else? Mitch is hot and willing to give everything he is. Can everyone except that he’s now a changed man? The lovemaking is so intensely erotic and tender that it literally took my breath away.
Crafting secondary characters that mesh well in a romance is not an easy task, but Toni Blake excels as she introduces people I’d like to know better. These other players are interesting, appealing and kept my attention throughout the book. It held my interest so well, that I actually read it again to experience the joy of romance one more time. When the secret comes out, you’ll go through a myriad of emotions, wondering if it will all work out.
Bravo, Ms. Blake for another job well done. But don’t take my word for it. Go out to get this tantalizing love story and make it your Top Pick today!
