Fans of Scottish Romance should love this book. The Selkie Bride is set in a cursed Scottish village and the heroine, Megan Culbin, must join forces with the Selkie King Lachlan to save herself.
The writing is very good, tight and well edited, but I found it difficult reading. The story didn't pull me in or keep my interest very well…it was just bland at times. I was expecting a better blend of fantasy with the romance and it was more heavy on the romance. It reminded me a lot of the thick romances from the 1970's and 1980's, the ones with the great Fabio covers, a lot of promise but no delivery.
While this book did not catch my attention, it should give some fantasy romance readers an entertaining read.
Widow Megan Culbin has inherited a cottage in Findloss, a cursed village in Scotland that was lost once in a terrible storm, buried in sand that killed everyone in it. But now it is returned to the light of day. The village is cursed in other ways and Megan's only chance at survival is to ally herself with the selkie king, Lachlan.
