Maddy Barone delivers a fantastic paranormal short story. For such a short story it was chock full of so many emotions. I found myself smiling and even laughing out loud on one of two occasions but I was also sometimes in tears as well as loaded with anger. I experienced an entire range of emotions in a short span and while this was the first book I've read in this series I believe I'm hooked. I'm looking forward to visiting this rough new world the author has created. I love that her characters need to be resourceful in order to survive this coarse new existence and Snake and Melissa are both quick-witted and creative when it comes to not only enduring but thriving. If you're looking for something different this one is definitely a great choice.
