Wishing Game

A.S. Fenichel once again transports readers to a time and place full of sweet romance and delightful historical details. Mary is such a fine heroine, full of all the lovely attributes amiable young women of the time possessed and a beautiful heart and a genteel personality. Avery is the ultimate hero and so kind-hearted yet he remains utterly masculine. The interactions of these two strong and steadfast characters was charming and I found myself feeling invested in the outcome as much as anyone between the pages. The storyline is traditional yet is genuinely engaging and the supporting characters are interesting and appealing. I loved the Earl of Westbridge as he practically stole the show in every scene in which he appeared. I have come to expect fantastic sweet historicals when I pick up a read from this author and this story was no exception. If you have penchant for well-written traditional Regency Romances this is a must-read.

The unwilling heir to the Earl of Westbridge arrives to offer his assistance to the dying Earl and his family. Avery is content with his life as it is and does not wish to inherit and would be more than happy to see the man's daughter Mary come in to her fortune. But seeing as she is a spinster and there are no prospects that meet her expectations she knows nothing will answer her prayers. Until Avery shows up one storming evening. Can they make all their wishes come true?

Book Blurb for Wishing Game

The Earl of Westbridge is dying, and without a male heir. His daughter Mary will lose her home if she does not marry before her father passes. She has already turned down two men while holding onto the hope of finding true love. In her desperation, she plays the wishing game, a childhood folly devised to chase away fear during thunderstorms.

Avery is the unwilling heir to the Westbridge earldom. He arrives a few days before the spring holiday in the middle of a horrific storm to offer his assistance to his distant cousin. Expecting a spinster who had been put on the shelf, he certainly never expected to develop feelings for the beautiful Mary Barrow.

Mistrust and doubt engulf them. It will take a miracle to bring them together. Or maybe just a wish come true.
