Two Ghosts & a Love Song

Dead by the Numbers Mysteries, #2

Jennifer Fishetto serves up a delicious cozy mystery with this fun ghost story. Gianna Mancini is a refreshingly normal young woman, even if she does see dead people, and speak to them and often help them crossover. This was my first adventure with this unique sleuth and I can’t wait to go back and read the one that started it all but I didn’t feel I missed anything by started at her second case. I loved her family and how close knit they all are and how average too. Her brother Enzo stole my heart. I loved seeing how Gianna interacted with everyone living and dead. Her wit was a pleasure to witness especially when dealing with cranky ghosts and even crankier police detectives. Her relationship with Julian is complicated and messy and absolutely beautiful for its realism. While I had absolutely zero in common with this young woman I couldn’t help but feel invested in her dilemma and cheer her on because she truly seemed to care for the ghosts she encountered and the loved ones they’d left behind. The mystery itself had a few quirky twists and turns that melded well with the characters and I honestly can’t wait to see who she will meet up with next. If you are a fan of the genre this is a fun read that will leave you with a smile.

Gianna Mancini is just the girl next door, she works in her parent’s deli and lives in the apartment upstairs. She has a complicated relationship with her boyfriend and lately dealing with her pregnant sister is a hassle, but really it’s just the usual for her even if that means she sees dead people. After a nearby explosion leaves someone dead Gianna promises to pass on a message to his fiancé however she soon finds herself pumping her policeman brother Enzo for information as she becomes embroiled in a murder case. Can she solve it before becoming a ghost herself?
