Ella Quinn certainly knows how to take readers on an historical adventure and her latest in her The Marriage Game series is definitely no exception. Lady Serena is a mature heroine and while I never felt sorry for her, she was much too capable for my pity it made me so sad at how she was treated by her brother. She deserved to be treated so much better. I loved watching her interact with her family. I also loved her experiencing the season and all it's foibles and glories. I got to attend the balls and go riding in the park right alongside her. I thought she was wonderful in London but when she relocated it was amazing to see more and more of her strength of character revealed. Robert, Viscount Beaumont is an utterly fascinating hero, even if he doesn't want to be one. I chuckled at his reluctance to let her in but it seemed it was too late from the moment he saw her. He is such a headstrong man and seeing him so out of control was a delight to witness. The detailed descriptions of the scenes and the settings were so intricately woven into the story it practically leapt of the pages and appeared in my mind. The other characters in the story brought a depth to the leading couple and their relationship and each one was a pleasure to read about whether they were heroes or villains. The roller coaster ride this story took me on was amazing. Every time I believed everything had settled down something new would happen and the adventure would ramp up again. This was one of those stories that I wish I had started reading sooner because I had to put it down, sleep and go to work but I felt it calling to me all day long so I couldn't wait to get back to it. If you love your romances with passion and adventure this is a must read.
