The Haunting of a Duke

Chasity Bowlin gives readers a fantastic romance with a Gothic touch in this Regency. Emme Walters is a fantastically abnormal heroine who draws you in from the very first introduction. I enjoyed how matter of fact she was about her gifts and how utterly calm she remains in the midst of mayhem. The only thing that seems to ruffle her is her strong reaction to her hostess’s son. While Rys isn’t all that unusual for a hero as he is quite the brooding charmer, he is just as engaging from the moment he meets Emme. We are lucky enough to observe them battle with their attraction and the futility they feel it entails. He is surrounded by rumors and innuendos and yet he bears it well and holds up to the pressures of being a Duke. I’m looking forward to this author’s other offerings as I thoroughly enjoyed this book; loosing myself in the pages and staying up late in the night just to see how it would end.

Emme Walters is known to talk to the dead which is why The Dowager Duchess of Briarleigh has invited her to a house party in order to prove that the duke did not kill his wife. Rhys Brammel has never been a believer in talents such as Emme’s but a flesh and blood killer threatens her and intimidations from beyond the grave plague her as well. He finds himself struggling with his beliefs while protecting her life and both their hearts.

But Emme never imagined she would fall in love with the brooding duke.

Branded by society as a possible killer, Rhys is suspicious of Emme and her alleged "gift." Then a late night encounter creates awareness of her other, more attractive, aspects. When Emme's life is threatened, Rhys becomes her protector.

Emme and Rhys find passion and peril as they join forces to solve the mysteries at Briarleigh. She made him believe in spirits, but can she make him believe in love?
