Anne Lawson delights readers with an aquatic adventure in this historical romance. We meet Georgia after she makes a very impulsive decision and instead of thinking she was acting foolishly I believe her actions only endeared her to me. She made a brave decision and showed some amazing courage. I enjoy historical heroines with modern day gumption and Georgia definitely showed lots of it.
Gabriel was such a well-rounded hero. He was intelligent, charming, hard-working and practical. He was surprisingly tender and pragmatic and I could see how easy it would be to lose my heart to a man like him.
The chemistry between the two is instantaneous and hot, hot, hot. The author does a great job of weaving in lots of passionate scenes but keeps the emotions at the forefront.
I'm still chuckling over Gabriel's meeting with Mrs. Lacey. His family was fantastic. I enjoyed meeting them and as this was my first story by this author I'd like to go back and read the older brothers' stories if they are available. I definitely would love to see Will get his own story, perhaps he can end up with Gabriel's sister and become an official member of the family.
If you're looking for a slightly different Regency romance, one that takes you out of the ballroom and on to the high seas then this is the perfect choice.
Daughter of a wealthy shipping merchant Georgia Lacey flees an arranged marriage with a stranger. She ends up stowing away on her fiancée's ship, only she doesn't know who he is. But he knows who she is. Marcus Gabriel Trent is determined to make his future bride fall in love with him before he reveals just who he is. But his plan backfires and he falls in love with her. When the truth comes to light will they have a happily-ever-after?
He admires her bravery and desires her for her beauty and charisma . . .
Forced into marrying a complete stranger is far from Georgia’s idea of the fairy-tale life that she has envisioned for herself. Dressed as a boy, she flees Savannah and seeks refuge on a ship bound for England. Her impulsive plan goes awry and she is discovered hiding in the ship's cargo by its captain. Georgia makes up a story to conceal her true identity, unbeknownst to her that the captain already knows exactly who she is.
Captain Gabriel Trent is just the kind of man Georgia has always dreamed of. He is kind, insanely handsome, and a true romantic.
Unaware that she has run straight into the arms of her future husband only complicates matters between the two of them as passion flares.
Gabriel's plan had been to seduce Georgia into falling in love with him before they reached England. But what develops between them is beyond his wildest imagination. Can their love survive the secrets and the lies they have been keeping?
