Barbara Miller gifts her readers with a swift and sweet Regency romance. I loved the hero of this short story and I lost my heart to him almost from the very first paragraph. Colin is a progressive man with modern thoughts and ideas and I appreciated how his feelings for Elizabeth solidified so quickly yet so absolutely. Elizabeth is an intriguing heroine born into a time and society where her strengths are just not appreciated. I completely felt for her as I could understand her distrust over Colin’s offer. The supporting characters were well developed and I’m looking forward to them all making appearances in additional stories. This author writes with a style I found not only entertaining but also enlightening and I’m looking forward to reading her other stories to see if I will find them as thoroughly enjoyable. If you are looking for a quick and light read this one is definitely a fabulous choice.
Lieutenant Colin Barclay thinks he has no future-until his brother George dragoons him into offering for Elizabeth Mortimer, so George can marry her younger sister. But Elizabeth sees no need to marry and plans to remain on her father's estate to run the stud farm. As Colin attempts to woo her, he discovers how courageous and competent she is, just as his devotion makes Elizabeth question what she thought she'd always wanted.
