Melisse Aires builds a world that is so fantastic and yet so utterly believable. I cannot wait to see where these characters go. Rahmiel is a near perfect hero and let's face it who doesn't love a fallen angel? I so enjoyed the little characteristics that made the leading couple so realistic. Kari gets a little snippy and her angel is a tad manipulative but instead of turning me off it made them both more endearing. The tone of the book is lighthearted and thoughtful. The premise of summoning a famine demon in a desperate attempt to lose weight was handled in a perceptive and understanding way without turning it into a humorous situation. I adored the supporting cast and can honestly say I want each of them to get their own stories, especially Kari's best friend who I think deserves her very own angelic lover.
Kari casts a weight loss spell and unknowingly releases a famine demon into the unsuspecting world. Tied to the demon he once defeated fallen Guardian Angel Rahmiel is freed from his ice prison to conquer the demon again. In order to remain out of the prison he needs to quickly bond with a human woman and Kari fits his needs in more ways than one.
Kari thinks a weight loss spell in an old book is worth a try. Unfortunately, while it does make her thin, the spell is a trick that unleashes a centuries old famine demon.
Fallen Guardian Angel Rahmiel once defeated the famine demon and was bound to it so he could fight it if it ever descended to the earth again. But there is the little problem of his imprisonment in ice. While the demons reappearance gets him back to Earth, what he needs to stay out of prison is a bonding ceremony with a human woman--like Kari.
