Enticing Miss Eugenie Villaret

The Marriage Game

Ella Quinn gifts readers with a unique location with this historical romance. Miss Eugénie Villaret makes for an interesting heroine, and I admired her greatly. William, Viscount Wivenly is a rather conventional, unconventional bachelor and I enjoyed watching him deal with his feelings. I rather enjoy history and as this was not a standard setting for a Regency story I couldn't pass up this unique setting. And I'm glad I didn't because the author weaves beautiful details about the history and culture of the time, including housing and food which added exceptional elements to a typical scenario. I loved how slavery was also detailed in this story as it is not something often discussed. This is an interesting Regency romance that will appeal to readers looking for something slightly different when it comes to details and setting but the usual interactions of the main couple. It is an easy read with amiable characters.

Viscount Wivenly is an eligible bachelor who is definitely not looking to become leg-shackled. So rather than succumb to the matchmaking mamas of the determined young ladies of the English ton he heeds for the West Indies. However instead of solving his problem and finding solace he finds himself fascinated by the lovely Miss Eugénie Villaret who seems immune to his usual charms. But William is determined to win the beauty over.
