Annabeth Leong’s characters outshine the gorgeous setting of this erotic romance, which is no easy feat considering the locale is the lush and beautiful Hawaii. Kahala Lin is the type of woman I’ve always aspired to be and the fact that she can make gorgeous clothing for herself and other’s makes her all the more appealing. Without giving anything away or downplaying the heroine’s strong personality, I love how there was a slight shift in Kahala’s attitude by the end of the story. James Corwin is an endearing mixture of tough-guy, action hero and smitten boy. I love how affected he is by the curvy heroine. As shallow as it may sound, I think many Rubenesque women fantasize about a gorgeous actor choosing them over their much tinier Hollywood counterparts and James makes it seems as there was never really any choice. The connection between these two is sexy, the loving is steamy and the storyline is sweet, what more can a reader want? The supporting characters help bring this book to life and the scenario is a winner. I believe this author has just earned a spot on my must-read list.
When BBW fashion designer lands a job on a movie set as a costume designer she’s just grateful for a paying job to help with the expenses of starting her own boutique. She’s never wanted to design clothing for anyone other than curvy gals like her. When she ends up designing for the star James Corwin, he’s determined to get her out of hers. She gives in to temptation and before she knows it she’s smack dab in the middle of a Hollywood scandal.
Costume designer Kahala Lin didn’t get into her line of work to make clothes for tiny models. She dreams of creating high-fashion masterpieces for BBWs such as herself. When she’s hired to work on costumes for the science fiction movie Laser Sentinel, she passes up the opportunity to dress the film’s heroine and ends up with the hardest job on set—pleasing the demanding and devastatingly handsome star, James Corwin.
James is one of Hollywood’s best known actors, but he’s in trouble when he’s forced into working on this dud of a movie. James can’t relax and enjoy the shoot on Hawaii’s black-sand beaches. He needs to prevent this film from becoming an embarrassment, starting with making sure he’s not shot wearing nothing but spandex, a headdress and a ray gun. His collaboration with the new costume designer starts out promising, but soon he’s so busy taking off her clothes that he’s hardly thinking about what he’ll wear at all.
The press, however, discovers their relationship almost before it begins, and the resulting scandal threatens both their livelihoods and James’ chances with Kahala.
