Christmas in Cancun

In Cancun, #1

When Jack Girard’s sister-in-law shows up for the holidays he isn’t ready for the impact his brother’s widow and daughter have on him. Before he knows it he is spending time with her as they both aim to continue the family’s quest to discover Mayan treasure. Will putting to rest the past help these two souls to heal and perhaps plan for a future together?

KaLyn Cooper combines mystery and history in this hot holiday read. You name it, you got it in this fantastic read; there’s romance, adventure, suspense and sensuality, as well as an emotional journey for the characters and the reader. I couldn’t put this book down and I don’t feel at all guilty that I didn’t get enough sleep last night to function properly at work today.

Jillian is an appealing woman, her excitement about her work and her devotion to her daughter are easy to admire. I loved witnessing how she would transform from one minute to the next from a shy or social awkward woman into a confidant and straightforward seductress. Her brother-in-law seemed to have an amazing affect on her. Jack is so realistic he practically walks off the page. When we are first introduced to him he is with his friends and coworkers at a club so you immediately get an unfiltered version of him. The author writes with an ease that delivers Jack’s personality so clearly that it feels as if I’ve known him forever. Cooper does this with all her characters, making you feel as if you are genuinely part of the story.

The setting and the Mayan details take on a life of their own in this story, and are as integral as the lead couple, yet they do not eclipse the connection between Jillian and Jack and it feels as if they enhance the relationship. I was so fascinated by the locale that I found myself researching it and longing to book my next vacation. The family dynamics are fabulous in this story and I’m certainly looking forward to reading more adventures with these fascinating people as well as Jack’s friends. If you are looking for a spicy, yet sweet suspense this is a gotta-read.

Book Blurb for Christmas in Cancun

Busy building a new career with his catamaran company, former SEAL Jack Girard had all but forgotten about his grandfather’s quest to find the golden Mayan goddess statues until his brother’s beautiful widow, Jillian, and adorable daughter, Addison, arrive in Cancun with the research materials. His need to complete the family quest is almost as strong as his desire for Jillian.

Between raising her daughter alone and finishing her doctorate in Mayan anthropology, Jillian doesn’t have time for a man in her life. Although, after mourning her husband’s murder for two years, she’s ready for a man her bed.

An underwater Virgin Mary statue and centuries-old manuscripts lead the two of them through the Mayan Riviera and directly into danger.
