The Buccaneer and the Bluestocking

The Blue Rose Regency Romances: The Culpepper Misses, #4

Collette Cameron pens a perfectly delightful adventure for the latest Culpepper beauty with this historical romance. I won’t deny I’ve been looking forward to reading this one as Blaike has always caught my attention. I hoped she would get the story she deserves and I believe no other option could have been better for her.

This story nabbed me from the start with its unusual beginning and instant spectacle. "Blaike: Secrets Gone Askew" set the bar high and never once let it down for the remainder. Blaike and Oliver are a perfect pair and it was a treat watching Blaike trying to convince Oliver of that fact. It was beautiful and heartbreaking to be aware of their feelings and how many obstacles they each believed faced them.

I loved the different settings and how they helped the tone and pace. As I’ve enjoyed the previous tales in this series it was wonderful to catch up with so many characters I feel are friends now. I loved the gritty pieces and the glimpses into life on a ship. I cannot wait to see Blaike’s sister get her very own adventure because she has patiently seen the other’s through theirs. Do yourself a favour and pick this one up, you’ll definitely enjoy it.

The Story: Captain Oliver Whitehouse can’t believe when he finds himself rescuing the lovely, if impulsive, Blaike Culpepper. And she can’t believe it when she ends up rescuing him right back. Can they get past their obstacles and rescue one another for the rest of their lives?

Book Blurb for The Buccaneer and the Bluestocking

Can a sea captain overcome his tarnished past and forge a future with a gently-bred hellion?

Captain Oliver Whitehouse has two goals: make the final payment on his ship and exact revenge for his grandfather’s murder. He certainly shouldn’t interrupt years of planning to save a damsel in distress and see her safely to England. Nor should he foolishly entertain romantic notions about a future with the impulsive beauty that her guardian has warned him away from. Even if she is the loveliest creature he’s ever laid eyes on, and only she makes him forget his past.

Ward to a powerful earl, gentlewoman Blaike Culpepper once craved adventure and excitement. Until her impetuousness nearly caused her ruin. Now shadowed by scandal, and pursued by a madman, she finds herself obligated to the darkly handsome sea captain for rescuing her. A man she’s been attracted to since they first met at a ball and she’s now grown to love. Though Blaike saves the swashbuckling scoundrel’s life and they enjoyed a tantalizing kiss, the infuriating man won't pursue her.

Once Oliver returns Blaike safely to England, he must make an agonizing decision. Dare he risk everything to pursue her, despite the vast difference in their social stations? Or should he sail away, leaving his heart behind?

For an adventurous page-turning Regency Historical Romance novel brimming with suspense, passion, and tenderness, read the fourth book in The Blue Rose Regency Romances: The Culpepper Misses.

Though this book is part of a series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone.
