Hey, Coach is a fabulous children's book all around, written by Linda Ashman. I love books that prepare children for something about to happen in their lives. Do you have a child who wants to play organized sports? This is the perfect book. I used to coach my son's soccer team so I am say that this progression of learning is spot on. At first the children are so excited, but they don't have a clue what they're doing. They sometimes get frustrated that they are doing well fast enough. Eventually, after lots of practice, they get better. They gain confidence, they enjoy being outside and playing with children who have become friends, and they get sad toward the end when they know they won't have practice, or a game, every week. I believe parents or teachers could even relate this to any task that a child is going to accomplish. The progression isn't only journeyed through in sports, but life. The expressions and pointy chins made the illustrations. Great job Kim Smith. I highly recommend this book to parents and educators alike.
