Shadow of Night

All Souls Trilogy, #2

In the continuation of the All Souls Trilogy we are taken back to Elizabethan London with Diana and Matthew, the two loved characters leading the way. I loved that Shadow of Night followed the same themes as A Discovery of Witches but managed to create a completely different atmosphere for the reader. Diana and Matthew were just as beautiful a couple as in the debut novel. But most of all I loved finding more out about Ashmole 782, and about Matthew's past. I applaud Ms. Harkness on her masterful talent for creating a story the weaves such an intricate web in the readers mind. I can hardly wait to see how this epic series will end!

After facing their manny differences Diana Bishop and Matthew Clairmont return with a new grand adventure. Spies, Elizabethan London, and problematic encounters with old enemies are just a few of the things that stand in their way.

Only with the help of old friends and new ones will Diana and Matthew be able complete a mission that can only take place in Matthew's and Ashmole 782's past.

Book Blurb for Shadow of Night

"Together we lifted our feet and stepped into the unknown"—the thrilling sequel to the New York Times bestseller A Discovery of Witches

Deborah Harkness exploded onto the literary scene with her debut novel, A Discovery of Witches, Book One of the magical All Souls Trilogy and an international publishing phenomenon. The novel introduced Diana Bishop, Oxford scholar and reluctant witch, and the handsome geneticist and vampire Matthew Clairmont; together they found themselves at the center of a supernatural battle over an enchanted manuscript known as Ashmole 782.

Now, picking up from A Discovery of Witches’ cliffhanger ending, Shadow of Night plunges Diana and Matthew into Elizabethan London, a world of spies, subterfuge, and a coterie of Matthew’s old friends, the mysterious School of Night that includes Christopher Marlowe and Walter Raleigh. Here, Diana must locate a witch to tutor her in magic, Matthew is forced to confront a past he thought he had put to rest, and the mystery of Ashmole 782 deepens.

Deborah Harkness has crafted a gripping journey through a world of alchemy, time travel, and magical discoveries, delivering one of the most hotly anticipated novels of the season.
