The Devil’s Nebula is a fast-paced space opera. From the beginning, I was drawn to its action-packed opening with Ed Carew’s crew trespassing on an alien world being attacked in the wilderness. From there the author does a good job of keeping a constant pace of action while building very unique and likable characters that he continues to build throughout the story. Unlike other space stories I have read, his worlds and aliens are very different and like nothing I have read before. The story was a very quick read and I look forward to a sequel to this book.
Ed Carew and his small crew are caught trespassing into alien space by their government and sentenced to execution. Ironically they are given a choice; they can once again trespass into Vetch territory on a mission for their government or die for their first infraction of trespassing. Ed and his crew transport some soldiers and government officials across enemy territory and find themselves in a situation that not only threatens their lives, but that of the whole galaxy .Worst of all, Ed and his pilot Lania don’t know who is already compromised by this new mysterious threat.
Best-selling author Eric Brown has created a brand new shared world for Abaddon Books: Weird Space. This thrilling space-opera series will begin with the release of The Devil's Nebula. Brown will introduce readers to the human smugglers, veterans and ne’erdowells who are part of the Expansion – and their uneasy neighbours, the Vetch Empire.
When an evil race threatens not only the Expansion, but the Vetch too - an evil from another dimension which infests humans and Vetch alike and bends individuals to do their hideous bidding, only cooperation between them means the difference between a chance of survival and no chance at all.
