Prequel to the Nightshade Trilogy

First off, I love the Nightshade series. I believe that Ms. Cremer is a wonderful writer who entertains us with her storytelling. She has a gift of being able to give the reader everything they could want in a book. Rift has it all, a kick-butt heroine, romance, danger, memorable characters, realistic history, and a writing style that leaves the reader feeling as if they are in the book. Rift is the prequel to the Nightshade Youth series and sets the tone for books to follow. I enjoyed Ember and her journey. We get two love interests in Barrow and Alistair, both want her, but only one will have her. We get to see the twins, Cian and Eira, who started it all.

Fans of YA, will love this latest installment to the Nightshade world. I am looking forward to more from this author!

After a Conatus healer, saves her mother’s life, 16 year old Ember Morrow is promised to the group also known as the Guard. To Ember though, it is more than just a duty to be fulfilled but what she is meant to be. When she learns of the evil in the world, she knows that she must work hard to become the warrior she knows she can be. Thus begins her training by the Lord Barrow Hart, who becomes Ember's mentor, and friend. Borrow slowly earns her trust and loyalty. He quickly becomes her most trusted friend and ally, with the blossoming of something more. With the help of a childhood friend and her fellow guard members she carves a place for herself. She will need all the friends she has to survive the darkness that is coming. Choices will be made, ones that may leave friends as enemies.

Book Blurb for Rift

Chronicling the rise of the Keepers, this is the stunning prequel to Andrea Cremer's internationally bestselling Nightshade trilogy!

Sixteen-year-old Ember Morrow is promised to a group called Conatus after one of their healers saves her mother's life. Once she arrives, Ember finds joy in wielding swords, learning magic, and fighting the encroaching darkness loose in the world. She also finds herself falling in love with her mentor, the dashing, brooding, and powerful Barrow Hess. When the knights realize Eira, one of their leaders, is dabbling in dark magic, Ember and Barrow must choose whether to follow Eira into the nether realm or to pledge their lives to destroying her and her kind.

With action, adventure, magic, and tantalizing sensuality, this book is as fast-paced and breathtaking as the Nightshade novels.
