Green-Eyed Envy is book two in the Shades of Fury series. It continues the story of Marissa Holloway, and as a Fury it is her job to deliver justice to the supernatural world.
In this new tale the supernaturals are at risk of dying by a serial killer, some just happen to be the ex-lovers of Harper Cruz. Harper is a FBI agent and Riss's lover's ex! Someone is focusing on the old lovers, not so much the current one so Scott is safe for now. Riss and her team go undercover to try to find out who the killer is, all the while trying to plan a wedding! I "won't give away the spoiler but it cracks me up". But the families of both the bride and groom are not at all pleased with the match, which just gives Riss a helluva lot of suspects to look at.
With more questions than answers, will Riss find the killer before the killer finds Scott?
Love this series, and Riss!! She is such a Kick-Ass heroine that you can't help but root for her. She has spunk and an attitude and knows how to use it, which is why I like her so much! In Green-Eyed Envy Riss and Scott are trying to ease back into their relationship, so don't be looking for hot and heavy sex scenes, but there is a build-up brewing that in future books promises to be explosive. Of course there is the small tension with the fling that Scott had with Harper.
Ms. MacKenzie did an excellent job of dealing with left over drama from Red Hot Fury as well as introduces us to more Fury politics. When Scott may become a target because of his fling with Harper, Riss has some jealousy issues to work out. It's just great writing and keeps the reader interested. Also, the covers are all kick ass!!! I cannot wait to see what happens next!!!
Shades of Fury Series: Red-Hot Fury #1, Green-Eyed Envy #2
Jealousy can be a killer...
As a Fury, Marissa Holloway belongs to an Arcane race that has meted out justice since time immemorial. As Boston's chief magical investigator, it's her duty to solve any crimes committed by or against supernaturals.
Months have gone by since Riss discovered some unwelcome truths about her past--and managed to stop a supernatural war. Since then things have been quiet. Too quiet. But that all changes when the bodies of Bastai, shapeshifters also known as Cats, begin piling up in Boston's magical underbelly--even though the legendary shifters are supposed to have ninety-nine lives.
One common thread ties the victims together: all were old flames of FBI Agent Harper Cruz. And since Harper and Riss's lover Scott Murphy enjoyed a one-night stand before he and Riss reunited, the Fury has twice the incentive to crack the case wide open, before the killer's green-eyed gaze turns in Scott's direction...
