A Lone Star Witch Novel, #2

Ms. Adams does a good job of creating a world with characters that are real and complex. Xandra is not the typical bad ass heroine that I usually read about. She is more complex and struggles more with her journey. I find her, as well as her relationship with Declan, entertaining. They complement each other, which is what keeps me coming back for more. Xandra's gift is evolving and she is struggling with issues with Declan and his past relationship. I love the dark side we glimpse as well. Through her gift, Xandra "witnesses" a murder, on top of trying to find a missing child, dealing with Declan and his need for revenge, and dealing with her family becoming a target. Xandra has her hands full. All I can say is, what an ending, and can I have some more, please?

After almost being killed and having your lover almost framed for your murder, Xandra is looking to lay low with Declan and get a little rest and relaxation. Yeah, right! Always on the lookout for the Arcadian Council of Witches, the couple can't seem to stay out of trouble. With a killer targeting witches and warlocks, Declan becomes the prime suspect. Xandra has always known that Declan has a dark side, and has a need for revenge, but there is no way he could be that brutal, or could he?
