Ellie's Wolf

After the Crash, Book 5

Quill Wolfe has known for years that Ellie was his mate, but she was in engaged to a man she loved at the time so he kept quiet and accepted he would never have a mate of his own. He went off so he would not be tormented with seeing them every day and three years ago Ellie moved with her husband away from Kearney, Nebraska. Her husband died in an accident and his boss had been after her to marry him and become mother to his two children, but she continued to refuse. She was surprised one day to find a group of men with a wagon come to the house. Mr. Moore had sold her to the women traders. She was to be offered up in a bride fight. A fight where the winner becomes the husband of the bride of his choice. Her son Conner was kept by Mr. Moore who said she had three months to return for him or he would be sold.

Ellie has convinced Rye Thomas that he should get in touch with her cousin Taye Wolfe who would pay handsomely for her and the other two women being sold with her. She knows her cousin will bring his entire pack to save her if necessary even if no one had come in response to her letters begging for help to come home. Taye sends Quill and others to go and retrieve Ellie and the women with her. Quill, Stone and Snake find their mates in Ellie, Sara and Melissa respectively. Now they just have to convince the women to accept them, get Conner back for Ellie and get them home safe to the Pack house in Kearney. Piece of cake, right?

Maddy Barone has outdone herself with Ellie's wolves. We learn more about the Kearney pack, and even though none are from the times before we learn how Ellie's uncle was and more about what happened. Each new offering is like a present from Ms. Barone as we slowly open it we learn more about what the concept of the stories is about. Each of these stories could be read as a standalone as there is enough information included in each story so that you can understand the references, but if you are like myself you would enjoy reading each and every book and watching as the characters evolve and interact.

Ellie's Wolf was so fun to read I cannot wait to read what pairing she will be offering next. I hope this series never end.

The concept of a final war with germ warfare is more than a possibility that we need to watch for and hope we never see. How would we cope without electricity? Running water? Telephones? Internet? Cooking over a wood stove? Washing clothes by hand? Without air conditioning? Would we thrive or would we wish we had not survived to the plague and the bombs?
