A Place to Belong

Mount Brighton Cats, #1

Maggie is in the middle of nowhere when her car suddenly looses power. While trying to coast it to the edge of the road she winds up in a ditch and bangs her head. Off to the side of the road Chris, a mountain lion shifter, watches over Maggie trying to come up with an idea of how to keep Maggie close and safe. After chasing off the only car to have come down the lonely road in hours Chris slowly approaches Maggie, trying to keep her from being afraid. When Maggie begins to pet him Chris hears real mountain lions coming closer and begins to nudge her closer to his home where she will be safe. Once he gets her inside he can plan away to get her to stay forever. Why, because Maggie is his MATE!

At 65 pages A Place To Belong is a very quick read yet manages to give the reader an insight into Jane Wakely's world of mountain lion shifters. Chris has the advantage of reading the emotions of his mate, but Maggie gives the human side of trying to be rational and use caution. Ms. Wakely gives a lovely story of love growing and contentment filling the empty places in the lonely hearts looking for the place where they belong in the world. There are tender scenes as well as some intense love scenes. If you are looking for a quick and light read this may just be the book for you. Ms. Wakely leaves many openings for other books and I look forward to reading her next foray into the Mount Brighton Cats series.
