Janice had a crush on Dirk since long ago but Dirk never looked her way. Besides, he already had someone who she couldn’t compete with. She knew she could never have him, but one fateful night, he turned up at her door needing her help. One thing led to another, and that night forever changed their lives.
I liked Janice a lot. She’s the kind of heroine I like in a book. She wasn’t afraid of hard work. She wasn’t afraid of getting her hands dirty. Her job was to take care of bulls for rodeo shows, and she was really good at it. At first, Dirk seemed like a jerk, but he grew on me as the story progressed. I thought Grady wasn’t as bad as Dirk made him out to be, but it turned out I was dead wrong. He was bad to the bone and it was horrible that Janice got caught up in his lies.
This was one of the hottest books I’d read so far this year. The love scenes were hot. They were very sexy and passionate. Since Janice didn’t have much experience, Dirk was very gentle with her, so it was nice of him. It was good to see him taking care of her. The conflict kept the story moving and the pace was good. Everything was at its own pace and nothing felt rushed. I liked that a lot, because in a lot of books things are rushed, so it ended up not being believable or realistic. This story was believable because the whole story took more than a couple of years.
When I thought things were going to work out between Janice and Dirk because Dirk decided to dump his girlfriend who doesn’t even care about him, things turned out differently. Miscommunication or the lack of it results in their parting on bad terms. Dirk didn’t even say goodbye properly to her, so she misunderstood that he didn’t care for her.
When they meet again, a lot had happened. Each with scars on their heart and body, it was hard for them to make their relationship work since so many things had happened, but against the odds they made it together. Janice and Dirk’s story was beautiful. When I finished the book, I shed a few tears. They missed a lot in each other’s life, but in the end they found their own happy ending.
This was a fun and sexy read. The storyline was absolutely marvelous. I won’t forget this story, for sure. I recommend this book to anyone.
