The story was enjoyable. There are many other stories that I’ve read which had this story line. It’s the CEO and his secretary falling in love. Don't get me wrong. This story was very well written and I loved the double point of views that let me know both the main character's feelings, but I felt something was missing as I was reading it. While I liked the story, it didn't leave a strong impression on me like I thought it would. But it’s worth checking out. If you’re looking for a fun and sweet read with some steamy parts then this is for you.
The Heroine and Hero:
Skye Summers grew up in a political family and the spotlight was always on her family. She had to act a certain way and with her father’s high expectation of her, she had a lot on her plate. When she got a job as a secretary for a playboy entrepreneur, things didn’t quite go as she had planned.
Skye thought nothing of her encounter with a certain someone but when he turned out to be her boss, her job got a little harder. I feel really bad for Skye. I mean she didn’t really want to think about her encounter with a guy who she almost had sex with but anyway luck wasn’t on her side. He was her boss so she would see him every day. Every time she and Landon were in a room, they couldn’t keep their eyes off each other. The things they felt for each other wasn’t something they had felt with other people before. They wanted each other but Skye kept her distance as best as she could since he was her boss, but it didn’t last long. Them being together was beautiful. Skye was hurt by her last relationship, but Landon made her feel safe. I liked Landon for taking care of Skye whenever she needed someone.
Vic was a jerk and a bastard. I understand he was mad about the break up but I seriously can't stand a guy who resorts to violence. I'm someone who believes talking it out after both cool down is the best way to go, but once in a while our emotions overtake us. It's understandable. I also understand he must had hit her in the heat of the moment, but he was too possessive. It was like he wanted to keep her locked up so he could have her all to himself. I admired Skye's strength to tell him no when she had enough of his stupidity and unbearable behaviors. I was really irritated when he came back to threaten her when her relationship with Landon started. It was really annoying but I loved how Landon was there for Skye and stood up for her against Vic.
The Political Dad:
Her dad was something also. When Skye broke up with Vic, he was really disappointed and worried about his campaign more than his daughter. He didn’t really ask what really happen that make Skye to break up with Vic. He didn’t ask if she was okay. I guess it was part Skye’s fault for not saying anything about what really happened. But her dad behavior was not something I expected from a parent but he was a politician so he’s always looking for someone he can use for his gain. I felt really bad for Skye though. Her dad was using her.
Being the daughter of a big-city mayor, twenty-one year old Skye Summers has giant shoes to fill in her first real job out of college. With the public spotlight on her family, and her dad’s expectations running high, she jumps at the chance to work side-by-side on an important project with her sexy new boss.
Playboy entrepreneur Landon Steele has built a successful entertainment PR firm and broken more than a few hearts along the way. He’s counting on his enthusiastic new assistant to help him expand his business into LA… until he discovers she’s a pampered rich girl who’s in the public spotlight as much as his famous clients. Still, he agrees to give her a chance, and soon the two are heating up the bedroom as well as the boardroom.
But when Skye’s ex-boyfriend threatens to reveal a dangerous secret from her past, her job, relationship with Landon, and her father’s career are suddenly all on the line. Will she be forced to leave Landon? Or will she pursue her heart, regardless of the cost?
