Fae Hunter

Soulstealer Trilogy, #1

Fae Hunter is the first book in Soulstealer series by Nicolette Reed. In this book, Fae Hunter, we are introduced to Valora Delos. Valora is a very talented hunter who is capable of finishing her job. She is given a mission by King Aric to bring back a Soulseater from Earth and she eagerly accepts the mission for she wants to prove herself worthy to him. With her friend, Kali, she goes down to Earth but is traped when the portal that will take her back to Dell’Aria closes. On Earth, she unexpectedly makes friends with half-fae Dooley who will help her much more than just bring her home safely to Dell’Aria.

Valora as a main character is very likeable. She is a loyal and dedicated person who does not think of only herself. She thinks of others as well even though others have treated her differently because of her inability to fly. When trouble hits her home, Dell’Aria, she will stop at nothing to save her home and the people in it. Even though she is born with wings that are basically useless, she doesn’t see herself as useless and she refuses to let it be the reason for her not being able to save what matters most to her. She accepts the mission given by her king bravely and determines to save Dell’Aria. I think that is very nice of her to accept a mission that somehow promises no victory. Her father clearly disapproves of her choice, but she goes anyway. When she arrives on Earth though, she finds out that King Aric is not really what he seems to be. There is more to him that she doesn’t know.

On Earth, she meets Dooley. After spending some time with Dooley, she becomes attracted to him. Soon she finds herself stuck between two men, King Aric and Dooley. King Aric is a man who she serves with devotion and love. In her mind she loves him but the attraction she feels toward Dooley also is undeniable and great.

Dooley is also a likeable character. He is very interesting and fun to read about, but in this book there isn’t much about him so I hope we get to see him more in book two or three.

Other secondary characters are also fun to read about.

The author does a good job bringing all the different stories together. I enjoy reading this book and I look forward to reading more from this author. If you like to read fantasy, this book is for you.

Book Blurb for Fae Hunter

Valora Delos is a Hunter, charged with tracking the treacherous Soulstealers and bringing them to justice. Unlike the other fae of her kind, Valora was born with stunted wings that render her flightless, driving her to prove herself in the eyes of King Aric, with whom she has been infatuated since she first set eyes on him as a young prince.

She descends to Earth and finds herself trapped in suburban Seattle after the portal to her world closes. With the help of a sexy half-fae named Dooley, Valora must find her way back to save Dell’Aria. Dooley uses his own brand of magic to help Valora discover memories buried deep within her, which produce more questions than answers- questions about her growing attraction to Dooley and her devotion to her King. Uncovering who the Soulstealers are and who is behind the destruction of Dell’Aria brings Valora a truth she may not be able to handle.

Heat Level: Sizzling Romance. Sensual, sexual and edgy. Sex scenes are detailed in their description. Sexual situations bump the boundaries but don’t cross over into erotic romance. Sexual tension remains at a high level throughout.
