Too Wicked to Wed

Lords of Midnight

Lady Alexa is not your normal lady in this century. She is tired of hiding behind propriety and wants adventure. All her life has been centered on her family and being proper. Meeting Connor, Earl of Killingworth, definitely is an adventure and she loves that right now. Yet through it all she feels like Connor is hiding something about himself. Alexa knows that he has not led a good life and that he is trying very hard to redeem his reputation. Everybody has told her she is a good card player but her talent will lead her to trouble. Can she convince everybody that her game with Connor might me more than a bluff and her winning the jackpot of all?

This is the first I have read from Cara Elliott and have to say I loved it. Alexa seems like a woman anybody will love, but it is Connor who captured my heart. Here is a guy who has not led a good life but is trying very hard to be like all the other gentlemen. What got me is that even though he tries to be real good the naughty and delicious side of him shines in him. All in all it was a great book and I can’t for more from this talented author.

Book Blurb for Too Wicked to Wed

Outspoken and independent, Lady Alexa Bingham enjoys the heady freedom of making all her own decisions, even though the challenges of overseeing her family's country estate are daunting. But when a chance encounter with London's most notorious rake awakens a secret longing for adventure, she accepts her aunt's invitation for a Season in Town . . . only to find that breaking the rules of the ton has serious consequences.

The Earl of Killingworth uses his rakehell reputation to hide the fact that poverty has forced him to work for a living. As the owner of a gambling den and brothel, Connor has no time for glittering ballrooms or innocent young ladies. But after a reckless wager leaves him with a new business partner, he is forced to take a risky gamble . . . Will the cards fall in their favor? Alexa and Connor begin to play a dangerous game of intrigue and deception as they seek to outwit a cunning adversary who wants to put them permanently out of business. But if they are not careful, it is the flames of their own fiery attraction that may destroy them.
