Maggie Sefton has written yet another awesome story filled with friendship, a splash of romance, good mystery, and lots of knitting!!!!!!!!! The book I am speaking so fondly of is “Only Skein Deep”!!!!! I have read her other books except the one right before this one. I will be reading it very soon. All the books can be read as a standalone but I have enjoyed reading them in sequence! The main character is named, “Kelly”. She is a great character who seems to find trouble or maybe trouble finds her! This book was a bit different in that Kelly has always been an active person in seeking out the villain in each story. Now, she needs to take a step back and concentrate on herself and what is coming in her near future. Nonetheless, Kelly is still very curious as to what happened to the golfer on the golf course in their small community!
Kelly is an accountant that works from home, at the café, and/or at the infamous knitting hot spot. She came into the community several years ago and has developed strong relationships with girlfriends and spouses. She refers to them as the “gang”. I think it’s awesome how the author was able to create a tight group of friends. They all think about each other and support each other in various ways. There are several characters that are equally wonderful that consider themselves surrogate parents, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. It seems the group in a whole as grown with this book and the last which is phenomenal.
I found the story well written and easy to read. The story between Kelly and Steve got even better in this story. I felt like I was right there with the gang myself on that very special day in Mimi’s backyard. I was saying, “hooray” and dapping my eyes because it was too sweet for words. The second amazing event for Kelly and Steve was beautiful. I’m getting chills and sniffling just writing this review. I’m a sap.
Through it all, Kelly manages to figure things out when Burt and the police cannot. Perhaps, the local police department of her community should hire her on as permanent consultant!
This book should absolutely get 5 stars! Again, it was well written! Connections between the characters were clear. The plot was great! Descriptions were awesome!!!
