I just finished reading, “Complicate Me” written by Monica Robinson which I found to be an emotional train wreck of a story! The amount of emotional turmoil that went through this book with was nothing other than crazy! An infant amount of conflict was presented on each and every page from two main characters nicknamed, “Half-Pint” and “Bo”. I got a sense that the book dragged a bit but that is because the story showed a life-time of activity for Bo and Half Pint. I LOVED THE STORY! The title for this story is nothing other than perfect.
I have a couple of favorite characters in this book. I mostly definitely loved, “Bo and Half-Pint” because they were awesome central characters but I liked each and every one of the good ol’ boys. They were force to be reckoned with and had each other’s back even when they drifted apart for whatever reason. I think I liked Stacey a lot too. She was the enemy for one particular character but she stuck it out.
The story was told from two different points of view. The points of view changed quickly and often subtly leaving me caught up in the story. As I said, this story was all amount the emotions that came from essentially two characters. People that would care a lot about each other regardless of all the drama that was created from their feelings for each other and others and their actions.
I think the story flowed nicely. I loved how you could see other stories being written from this story. All the characters were written beautifully. The author did an AWESOME drop of describing the love the good ol’ boys had for their little sister. There were all kinds of love poured into this book between this character or another character depending on the relationship. I thought this book was definitely original from anything I have read lately. The story was full of sweetness, intensity, and passion that I will think about for a long time. I will absolutely have to check the additional books in this series!
I think this book should get more than 5 stars. I‘d say get you tissues ready to read this one and block of time to sit and read this through till the end. You are not going to want to put it down.
It was complicated, it was also just the beginning.
A simple choice.
There is always that one moment in life where things could have been different. That one moment where you could have chosen a path that would lead you down a certain road.
A different life.
It was easier to pretend that we were still best friends, and that she was my girl and I was her boy.
Pretending was better than knowing the truth...
I. Ruined. Us.
I had her.
I lost her.
I love her.
All I did was complicate us.
