Death, Taxes, and a French Manicure

A Tara Holloway Novel, #1

In this feisty little tale author Diane Kelly, takes us on a fun read with Special Agent Tara Holloway of the IRS Criminal Investigation Unit. Tara and her partner, Eddie Bardin, chase down white collar criminals and some who are not even close to that catagory. Ms Kelley gives us a very peculiar group of characters, extremely witty dialogue and some rich bankers who are into a Bernie Madoff style pyramid scheme.

Tara's latest job sends her, along with a DEA agent, Christina Marquez, to bring in an ice cream vendor Joseph "Joe Cool" Cullen, who is selling more narcotics than ice cream out of his truck and he has not declared his extra income to the IRS. Along with this ice cream caper Tara is checking up on Michael Gryder, who seems to be operating a Ponzi Scheme with a local banker Stan Shelton. Unfortunately, Tara has met a new man Brett Ellington, a landscaper, doing work with the bankers and Tara is not sure if he is part of the scheme or not. The big question is: Should Tara put her trust in Brett or send him to jail?

Readers will fall in love with Tara, a sharp sassy gal from Texas who takes no prisoners. However, she has her soft side too. She has two cats "Henry the VIII and Anne Boleyn" and takes in a homeless dog after she arrests the druggies. You will laugh and cry with Tara (mostly laugh) and her friends as she goes around and through the bad guys. Pick this one up, you won't be sorry.
