I'll be honest, I'm not sure what to think about Spurred On. The imagery was breathtaking. The setting is in Calgary, Alberta, Canada during the Calary Stampede. My hubby and I honeymooned in Calgary and believe me the images that Ms. Howard wrote about I can see, remember touching and feeling. The ranch, I could see by the Bow River and the Saddledome we toured. I could feel the dust from the rodeo and the broncs that Luke rode.
My problem with the story is Jessa herself. I didn't find her to be a very good Domme at all. I have read a lot of BDSM, some lite and some rather intense. I found her lacking in her true feelings for Luke. For someone that has been in love with him since childhood, I found her feelings for him not to be true and real. Luke's feelings for her and his admission to her were heartbreaking and real. I do think in the end, Jessa realized her true feelings for Luke and what being a Domme meant to her and especially to Luke.
I recommend the book on the basis of the storyline, which I thought was great. The imagery was outstanding and the character of Luke and the secondary characters are first rate. I look forward to more stories from Jenna Howard and hope that the stories are set in Calgary.
