Defiant is another great historical romance novel by Pamela Clare, rife with historical detail and intense characters that kept me glued to the pages. This story has adventure, danger, romance and a realistic feel with an honorable hero who shows his worth to the heroine. The book is detailed, but well written and an emotionally intense reading experience. Ms. Clare's descriptive writing makes me feel as if I'm actually there in historical times and it doesn't get any better than that. I'm a fan of Ms. Clare's writing and she captured my interest immediately with Defiant. I was simply unable to put it down!
Sarah was on her way to see her Uncle Williams and was kidnapped by indians. Through blackmail, William sent Connor and his brother to find Sarah. He finds a beautiful and brave woman, not the high and mighty miss he thinks he'll find and the only way to save her is to fight the Shawnee warrior, win, and claim Sarah for his own.
Major Connor MacKinnon despises his commander, Lord William Wentworth, beyond all other men. Ordered to rescue Wentworth's niece after the Shawnee take her captive, he expects Lady Sarah Woodville to be every bit as contemptible as her uncle. Instead, he finds a brave and beautiful lass in desperate peril. But the only way to free Sarah is for Connor to defeat the Shawnee warrior who kidnapped her-and claim her himself.
