Crickitt is in need of a job. She would have taken any job that she could get. Her husband left and divorced her and she is still coming to terms with that. She went to a club one night with her friend to get out of her house for a few hours. She never thought that by going to the club she would get an interview. She also did no9t think that she would fall in love with the same person who gave her the interview.
Shane is all about schedules and business. He has structure and order and does not want to do anything to jeopardize that. He never allowed himself to have any type of fun. When he went to the club it was to shut his cousin up about him not having fun. He never thought that he would find neither his personal assistant nor someone that he would fall in love with. His whole world completely changed because of that one night.
After a little while Shane asked Crickitt out on a date. They made out at their picnic date. They admitted that they were attracted to each other sexually. Shane made it clear that he did not know what their future held and that he did not want to be in a committed relationship. She was hurt and decided to not be in any type of relationship with him because she did not want to get hurt. So their relationship became strictly boss and assistant, but the sexual tension could be cut with a knife.
When they went on their business trip together, they decided to try and make their relationship work again. It worked for a while until incident happened while they were together at his house. He then closed himself off again. Shane then disappeared for a while leaving everything behind, even his business. When Crickitt finally figured out where he was she went after hm. He did not want anything to do with her so she left and went back to work.
What will happen with this couple?
I completely loved this book. I did not like how the author portrayed the male character. I felt that he needed to have a stronger backbone. But the way she wrote him made sense for the book.
I do recommend this book and I hope to read more from this author.
