I completely recommend this book. The author has a way of keeping you entertained as well as making you fall in love with her characters, especially if it's a small child or even a cat.
Mike is a professional gambler. He receives a message that his half-sister died and he has custody of his five year old niece. He doesn’t know what to do. His lifestyle isn’t for children. He never thought that he would fall in love with his niece and want to keep her let alone want to stay in a small town.
Charlene is a vet assistant who is still waiting for mister right. She thought it was her boss, but when he turned out to be gay she figured she would never find her Mr. Right. But when Charlene meets Mike and his niece she figures he will be just a friend and nothing more. But when she gets closer to the niece and becomes friends with the girl’s cat, she realizes that she wants both Mike and his family in her life. She just has to get the courage to do what she wants. She has to follow her heart even if it might get broken.
Apparently a cat can be a match maker. When the cat keeps running away, Mike and Charlene keep getting thrown together. When the cat created an accident, Mike realized that he loved Charlene. And he also figured out that he wants to keep his niece as well.
I have always loved reading books from his author. She brings people together who you don’t think should be. But in the end they are always completely right for each other.
Mike Taggart has always been willing to take a gamble. But these stakes are just way too high - there's no way he's prepared to become a legal guardian to his five-year-old niece. His only option is to head from Las Vegas to Last Chance to sort things out as quickly as possible. Problem is, he arrives to find an inconsolable little girl, her sick cat, and a gorgeous veterinarian he can't get out of his mind.
Charlene Polk has two talents: healing sick critters and falling in love with the wrong men. Mike has trouble written all over him, but she can't leave him in the lurch. And the more time she spends with the sexy high roller, the more she sees that this ready-made family is the best stroke of luck they've ever had . . .
