Jenny bought a house that was run down and she wanted to turn it into a bed and breakfast. Everything was going according to plan with the reconstruction until she received her first guest way before she was able to open for business. She never thought that by allowing him to stay she would find out that a ghost lived in her house, a stray dog who won’t leave and a man who would change her life forever.
Gable is a famous horror author and needed to get away from his world to write his next novel. He heard his childhood home was sold and he wanted to buy it back. He offered the owner and obscene amount of money but the owner would not sell. He never thought that him staying there would bring up his past and have him fall in love.
Strange things happen in the inn. Broken furniture and china cabinets, broken dishes and falling wall paper just because of things that were said that was not liked by the ghost in the house. Even having old video games play themselves. Both Jenny and Gable figured out that it was his brother Luke who was the ghost in the house.
The more the inn was torn up the more the town’s people got suspicious as to why. The more the house got haunted the closer Gabe and Jenny got because they were the only two who understood exactly what was going on. They just had to figure out how and why his brother was there and how to make him move on.
While they got closer Gabe’s ex-wife came into the picture. She was mentally ill and hunting him down. He had to admit everything about his past that he did not want to or hide from so that he and his brother’s spirit can move onto the future.
I thought the book was nicely written. It definitely puts in perspective things that can happen in your own home when no one else is around. The author is an amazing writer. I also love this series and hope to read more.
